Martin Kaymer Loses PGA Card

width=In 2014, Martin Kaymer finished 14th in the final FedEx Cup standings. Fast forward 11 months and he no longer has status on the PGA Tour.

Kaymer won the 2014 US Open by eight strokes over Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton. He also won the 2010 PGA Championship.

However, he finished No. 139 in FedEx Cup points this year. Why is that important? He needed to get inside the top 125 to make the playoffs and obtain the necessary number of starts (15) to retain his card. He ended with 13 starts.

Kaymer can still play up to 12 events on the PGA Tour next season and is a regular member of the European Tour. According to the PGA Tour, he can re-obtain status on its tour starting in the 2016-17 season because he has a multi-year exemption.
