5-Star Guard Frank Jackson Commits To Duke

width=The Mike Krzyzewski/Duke recruiting train has not lost any speed this summer. And on Tuesday night, Duke picked up another five-star prospect.

Frank Jackson, who plays at Lone Peak High School in Utah, publicly and verbally pledged to Krzyzewski's program at a press conference Tuesday evening. Scout.com was the first to report the news. Jackson, who will graduate next spring, wasn't originally seen as a five-star player, but his stock has soared in the past 18 months. Once Duke became heavily interested earlier in the year, everyone else was basically competing for second.

The commitment from Jackson comes two days after he left Durham, N.C., on an official visit to Duke's campus. It was his second trip to the school in less than a year. Jackson joins Jayson Tatum, another five-star player, in the Blue Devils' class of 2016.

Jackson announced his decision on Tuesday from the school auditorium at Lone Peak High. Al Jackson, his father, told CBS Sports that Frank verbally committed to Duke on Saturday afternoon. The decision was kept secret over the past 72 hours between Jackson's family and the coaching staff.

Duke beat out Stanford, Utah and BYU in the end. BYU was where Jackson initially committed, but that was during his freshman year. Jackson stands 6-foot-3, has good athleticism, an ever-improving long-range shot and good savvy as a point guard. He's not a pure point guard, however. In many ways, he's an ideal model for a modern floor general under Krzyzewski.

>>Syracuse, Georgetown To Renew Rivalry Dec. 5

The past two years, college basketball's regular seasons had a weird glitch to them, something unfortunate and a mistake that should never be repeated.

Syracuse and Georgetown did not play each other.

With Syracuse's move to the ACC in 2013, scheduling couldn't be shored up so that the two longtime and bitter rivals could manage a game. But the good news is we're all set for the renewal of the clash this season. The schools have confirmed Dec. 5 to be the first of a four-year series. The Hoyas get hosting duties this upcoming season.

Then Syracuse will host come 2016 and 2017, with Georgetown getting the fourth game back in its building, the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. By then, if all parties have their priorities in line, the non-conference series will have been renewed for another decade-plus. If not for the remainder of the century.

These former Big East combatants have combined to create one of the five or six best conflicts in college hoops. The season feels right when they play, even if it can only be once/year now. The series lead belongs to Syracuse (49-41). Fittingly, the last time the schools played each other as Big East schools, it came in the conference tournament in 2013.
