Blackhawks Notes

>>Ex-Goalia Raanta Wanted Blackhawks To Lose in Postseason

If you want honesty from your professional athletes in interviews, recent comments from Antti Raanta, currently the backup goaltender for the New York Rangers and a backup for the Chicago Blackhawks during their most recent Stanley Cup run, should be quite a treat.

width=In a recent interview with Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, Raanta said that after being passed on the depth chart by Scott Darling during the Stanley Cup playoffs he become so frustrated with his role on the team that he was hoping they would get swept by the Nashville Predators in the first round so he could return to Finland.

The 25-year-old Raanta appeared in 14 games during the regular season with the Blackhawks and recorded a .936 save percentage, the exact same mark as Darling. But when it came to the playoffs it was Darling, and not Raanta, that was called on early in the first round when starting goalie Corey Crawford was struggling against the Predators. Darling played five postseason games, starting four of them.

>>Blackhawks Agree To Terms with F Nordstrom

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a one-year contract with forward Joakim Nordstrom.

The 23-year-old Nordstrom appeared in three playoff games as Chicago won its third Stanley Cup in six seasons. He also had three assists in 38 regular-season games.

The Blackhawks announced the move on Wednesday. Terms were not disclosed.
