Local Family Uses Tragedy To Benefit Others

width=This past weekend marked the anniversary of the death of a Clinton teen that shook the community last fall.

Randy and Tammy Workman's son Evan (right) was a senior at Clinton High School last year when he took his own life. The community was quick to rally around the family and according Randy, the hashtag-EvanStrong quickly came to form. Workman indicates he was hesitant on the implications of the saying because of the circumstances surrounding his youngest child's death.

Once the #EvanStrong took off, Workman indicates they started to commemorate Evan's memory by doing different events and rather than allow he and his wife to handle all the funds, they set up the #EvanStrong Foundation to provide some transparency and in the last few months, they have acquired accreditation as a 501-C-3 non-profit organization.

With the funds that will be associated with the #EvanStrong Foundation will establish a scholarship tied to an awareness aspect. Additionally, Workman indicates they hope to work with area school districts to promote mental health and suicide awareness curriculum.

This past Saturday was a community lift at Cross Fit Influence where the Workman's have been active for a few years now. The lift benefited the #EvanStrong Foundation.
