Hunters or others might find sick or dead deer near water sources as infected deer develop a high fever and will seek out water.

The 47 cases have been seen in 17 counties, EHD generally ends when freezing weather kills the insects that spread the virus. EHD does not impact humans or pets. Anyone with a suspected case of EHD can report them to the DNR.
