>>LA Great Expects Lakers To Make Playoffs

When it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers, Julius Randle isn't the only person saying crazy/optimistic things right now.

Former Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is doing a media tour to promote his new novel about Sherlock Holmes' brother, Mycroft and he told SiriusXM NBA radio that he sees good things on the horizon.

 width=>>Lakers' Randle Predicts Double-Double Average

We only saw Los Angeles Lakers' Julius Randle on the floor for 14 minutes before his rookie season ended with a broken leg. The injury suffered in the opening-game loss to the Houston Rockets cost him valuable experience on the floor that many rookies are able to use to learn the speed of the game, the strategy of the game and build toward the future of their careers. Randle had to observe and learn by sight instead of experience.

That's not going to keep him from being confident in his abilities and projecting his production in his sophomore season in the NBA. Per the Los Angeles Daily News, Randle "absolutely" believes he'll average a double-double for the Lakers this season and whatever is best for helping the team win games.

Lakers coach Byron Scott may also favor starting veteran Brandon Bass at power forward. Though Randle “absolutely” sees himself averaging a double-double, Randle maintained, “I'm just going to do what's best for the team and whatever I can do to help the team win.”

The No. 7 overall pick from the 2014 draft class averaged a double-double in his lone season at Kentucky. In 30.8 minutes, Randle averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds, so the ability to do some on a competitive level certainly exists. However, he also will be battling for minutes with Brandon Bass at the starting power forward position, and if he doesn't get the starting nod then his opportunities will be limited.
