width=>>Jones To Remain Ohio State QB

Cardale Jones is still Ohio State's starting quarterback.

Urban Meyer announced on Wednesday that Jones will remain Ohio State's starting quarterback when the Buckeyes face Western Michigan this weekend, and that he'll be the starter until he's beaten out for the job.

Following last week's narrow win over Northern Illinois, Meyer said he didn't know who his starting quarterback was, and that he would "spend a lot of time thinking about" naming a permanent starter.

Jones was benched for J.T. Barrett on Saturday after a poor performance. He was only 4 for 9 for 36 yards with two interceptions before being replaced, but Barrett didn't perform much better once he was in the game.

And Ohio State's offense hasn't been that great overall. It's averaging only 33.3 points per game after scoring 44.8 points per game in 2014. The Buckeyes are also lacking the big plays they had so many of last season.

Through three games Ohio State's offense has managed only four plays of 30 or more yards, or 1.3 per game. Compare that to 2014 when the Buckeyes had 46 plays that gained 30 yards or more, averaging 3.1 per game.

Whether naming Cardale the permanent starter can fix that remains to be seen, but the consistency of knowing who the quarterback is from week to week could help.

width=>>Florida Suspends Pair For Game vs Tennessee

Florida hasn't lost to Tennessee since the 2004 season, and if the Gators want to keep that 10-game winning streak alive, they'll have to do so without two important players.

UF coach Jim McElwain announced Wednesday that quarterback Treon Harris and cornerback Jalen Tabor have been suspended for Saturday's game against Tennessee. McElwain did not give reasons for the suspensions, saying only that they were "based on some choices they made."

Tabor is a starter for the Gators opposite star CB Vernon Hargreaves III. Harris started Florida's opener at quarterback and has appeared in two games this season, not playing i UF's contest last Saturday against Kentucky.

In two games, Harris has completed 19 of 27 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he threw for 1,019 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions.

Tabor has one interception this season and has broken up four passes.
