Former State Fair Manager Breaks Silence

The former Manager of the Illinois State Fair says he resigned only after the Governor’s Administration was going to fire Director of Agriculture Phillip Nelson.

Today Patrick Buchen laid out a long list of complaints about political cronyism, wasteful spending and heavy handed tactics from inside the Governor’s office that eventually became too much to handle. Buchen says that he understood that he was next on the list to be fired so he quit before they could fire him. After just a few months on the job Buchen says that it was evident political forces were against the way Nelson and Buchen wanted to run the fair and other operations.
