Changes Coming To Lincoln College in Bloomington

Lincoln College is selling its campus in Normal. The announcement comes as part of a $7.6 million dollar, 12 year reinvestment plan.

Lincoln College President Dr. David Gerlach says the college will lease the main academic building back from the buyer after its sold, but the change will mean some layoffs.

Dr. Gerlach says the college is going to put the Normal campus on the market and sell other assets to raise funds for the $7.6 million dollar reinvestment plan.

The college is going to eliminate one-year certification programs in cosmetology, esthetics, teacher training and massage therapy at the Normal campus and expand its Accelerated Bridge to Education program.

He adds the moves are part of a plan aimed at turning Lincoln College into Lincoln University.

The college plans to add at least 12 additional baccalaureate degrees and a few master’s degree programs and will also explore a move into the NCAA or NAIA.
