>>Reports Say South Carolina Coach Spurrier Retiring

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has decided to retire, ending his storied career at the age of 70, according multiple reports.

Spurrier's Gamecocks fell 45-24 to LSU on Saturday, moving South Carolina to 2-4 (0-4 SEC) on the season.

His college coaching career will end with a record of 228-89-2 combined in 26 seasons at Duke (three), Florida (12) and South Carolina (11).

>>Florida QB Grier Suspended The Remainder of the Season

Florida starting quarterback Will Grier will miss the rest of the 2015 season and could sit out up to a full year of action after testing positive for a banned substance.

width=Grier and coach Jim McElwain confirmed at a Monday press conference that the NCAA has given Grier its mandatory full calendar year suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. An emotional Grier said his positive test had been caused by an over-the-counter supplement he'd failed to have OK'd by Gators medical staff before ingesting.

Grier said quote - "I really hope that people can learn from my mistake, I'm really sorry to everyone. Just really sorry."

McElwain said Florida will appeal the length of the suspension to the NCAA, hoping to reduce it from its current 12 months. A redshirt freshman, Grier is allowed to practice with the Gators but not travel with the team.

The Gators, among the nation's biggest surprises and ranked No. 8 in Sunday's AP Top 25, face No. 6 LSU in a key SEC game Saturday.

Since taking over the starting job against Tennessee, Grier has emerged as a steady option for the Gators under center and was already on pace to have the best statistical season for a Florida quarterback since Tim Tebow. Through six games Grier has totaled 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns on 65.8 percent passing at 7.5 yards per attempt.

Sophomore Treon Harris, who has been suspended already this season as well, will likely take over the quarterbacking duties with Grier sidelined.

>>USC Coach Sarkisian Fired Among Alcohol Scandal

USC announced the firing of coach Steve Sarkisian on Monday, this coming one day after athletic director Pat Haden put Sarkisian on an indefinite leave of absence from the program.

Haden released the following statement Monday:

"After careful consideration of what is in the best interest of the university and our student-athletes, I have made the decision to terminate Steve Sarkisian, effective immediately.

"I want to thank Clay Helton for stepping into the interim head coach role, and I want to add how proud I am of our coaching staff and players and the way they are responding to this difficult situation.

"Through all of this we remain concerned for Steve and hope that it will give him the opportunity to focus on his personal well being."

Sarkisian was in his second season as the Trojans' coach and posted a 12-6 overall record at USC. This season, USC has a 3-2 record including a 17-12 loss on Saturday at home to Washington. Things were bad on the field for the Trojans this season, but clearly Sarkisian was battling much bigger issues off of it.
