Local Schools Leader Says Key To PARCC Is Finding Silver Lining

width=As school leaders await the arrival of the first wave of PARCC testing results, area school leaders continue to convey their thoughts on the new assessments.

Superintendent of Warrensburg-Latham Schools, Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle, indicates she is taking the advice of the State Superintendent and not comparing the tests to other assessments given in years past. She feels the advice is sound because the tests are different.

Despite the first year that has been anything but positive for the PARCC tests, Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says the kinks and bugs of the system will get themselves worked out.

While Dr. Kendrick-Weikle believes the PARCC testing could be a useful tool, she does have some frustrations. The PARCC tests cost the state money to give out and she says there may be a scenario where they cannot afford all the tests.

Response to the first year of the PARCC testing and its results are widely mixed among area school leaders. Some see the PARCC as a positive tool, it just needs adjusting, others say it is not a good method at all.

We'll here more in the coming days from area administrators on the PARCC testing.
