Clinton Rotary's Apple n' Pork Stand Benefits Community

If the breeze is right on an Apple n' Pork weekend, you can smell the Clinton Rotary's pulled pork on parts of Center Street, but the smell dominates the CH Moore Homestead grounds.

The Rotary's pulled pork sandwiches bring in several thousand dollars from their weekend sales and according to Rotarian Tom Reddington, they partner with the high school's interact club to benefit them. He says Apple n' Pork is their biggest fundraiser.

The Rotary Club will gross around $20-thousand from the weekend and Reddington indicates once they net around $8-thousand to $10-thousand in a year, that money will use the money for local causes like the YMCA's "Right Stuff For Kids" and international uses as well.

The Rotary Club partners with the Clinton High School Interact Club more than just on the weekend of Apple n' Pork. According to Reddington, they try to spend time with them several times a month and introduce them to community work and what Rotary Club is.

Reddington points out Rotary is best known for their work in eradicating polio. He says thanks to those efforts, only three countries still have cases of polio.
