Unemployment rates locally look very strong as released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security last week.
DeWitt and Logan Counties unemployment dropped from July to August to under 5-percent, coming in at 4.9%.
Piatt County unemployment held steady from July to August at 4.9%.
McLean County had an unemployment rate in August of 4.5%.
Unemployment in Macon County in August was 6.8%, the second highest in central to Mason County's 7%.
The state's highest unemployment rate was in Alexander County, at 8.1%, who had the highest jump from July to August.
Brown County had the state's lowest unemployment rate of 3.4%, and Washington County had a 3.5% unemployment rate in August.
The Illinois unemployment rate was 5.6% compared to the 5.2% national average.
