Rams Battle Browns in St. Louis; Bears, Packers On Bye

width=Todd Gurley figures to be primed for his first home start after two spectacular efforts on the road preceded the St. Louis Rams' bye week.

He may be licking his chops to face a Cleveland Browns (2-4) defense that is the NFL's worst in stopping the run.

The Rams, who have the league's worst offense, figure to use a run-heavy game plan with Gurley when they host the Browns on Sunday.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Gurley is still not at 100 percent. Gurley has two rushes of at least 50 yards while the rest of the league has combined for six.

He represents a big challenge for a Cleveland defense allowing a league-worst 149.8 rushing yards per game. The Browns gave up 152 yards on the ground in last Sunday's 26-23 overtime home loss to Denver.

Robert Quinn and fellow defensive end Chris Long did not practice Wednesday, with Long unlikely to play.

width=>>Bears, Packers on Bye in Week 7

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers head into week 7 of the NFL season at different places, but both find themselves on bye.

The Bears are coming off a devestating week six, in which they were beaten by the winless Lions in Detroit by a game winning field goal in overtime. The Bears, at 2-4, have entered obvious rebuild mode on defense after dealing defensive end Jared Allen and linebacker Jon Bostic.

The Packers however, go into the bye as perhaps the best team in the NFC.

Having their main success behind the right arm of MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have found success so far this year on the ground.

Behind backs Eddie Lacey and James Starks, the Packers are top 5 in the league in rushing yards per game at 127.3.

While injuries to the Packers receiving core could easily have slowed their offense, the revival of James Jones' career has helped Green Bay remain balanced.

The Packers are undefeated at 6-0 and sit atop the NFC North.

width=>>Bears Cut Ratliff, Sign Ziggy Hood

The Chicago Bears have signed defensive lineman Ziggy Hood and cut defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff.

Hood signed a four-year deal with Jacksonville in March 2014, but he missed the first part of the season after he hurt his foot in the exhibition finale. Hood was released from the injured list on Tuesday after he passed a physical.

The 6-foot-3 Hood was a first-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 2009 draft out of Missouri. He has 12 1/2 sacks and 164 tackles in six seasons with the Steelers and Jaguars.

Ratliff was suspended for the first three games of this season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He started at nose tackle in each of Chicago's last two games and had seven tackles.

Ratliff, a four-time Pro Bowl selection in Dallas, had 6 1/2 sacks last season for the Bears.

The team announced the moves Thursday.

>>Seattle Dominates 'Niners

Russell Wilson threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett late in the first half, Marshawn Lynch jumped the pile for a 1-yard score, and the Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-3 on Thursday for their fourth straight win in this rivalry.

The Seahawks whipped San Francisco (2-5) in Levi's Stadium on a Thursday in prime time 11 months after Richard Sherman chomped turkey on the field here last Thanksgiving night following a 19-3 victory.

Wilson completed 10 of his first 12 passes and finished with 235 yards passing. He was sacked five times to push his NFL-leading total to 31.

Lynch ran for 122 yards despite vomiting on the sideline in the first half as Seattle (3-4) won its first road game in four tries, avoiding another fourth-quarter collapse.

In a game lacking its usual intrigue with both teams trying to save their seasons and with Pete Carroll missing coaching nemesis Jim Harbaugh, Wilson made the key plays and Colin Kaepernick struggled once again facing Seattle.

>>Cowboys Not Ruling WR Bryant Out For Sunday

Dez Bryant has been sidelined with a broken foot since Week 1 but coach Jason Garrett said Thursday that the Cowboys' all-world wide receiver is "day to day," and that no one has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, reports NFL.com's Desmond Purnell.

Garrett said before practice that Bryant "is running and cutting at full speed," according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram Charean Williams.

On Tuesday, Garrett said that Bryant could play this weekend "if he had a couple of really good days of practice," though Bryant was a non-participant on Wednesday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who has been decidedly optimistic throughout Bryant's recovery, said that this could be the week the wideout returns to the field.

The Cowboys are 1-3 in Bryant's absence -- the team also lost quarterback Tony Romo to a fractured clavicle in Week 2 -- and the offense, which currently ranks 21st in the NFL, could use a spark. Bryant's return would also make life immeasurably easier for Matt Cassel, who will make his first start for Dallas on Sunday.
