The governor hopes to hash out details of a balanced budget with reforms during a meeting he’s scheduled for next month between himself and legislative leaders but the spokesman for one legislative leader hopes the meeting is about the budget and nothing more.

In a letter to the four legislative leaders late last week Governor Bruce Rauner said he wants to meet either in Springfield or Chicago Wednesday November 18th. Speaker Michael Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said Madigan won’t commit to the meeting until he sees an agenda, but hopes the meeting will focus only on the budget.

However the governor’s letter said he wants to meet to find a balanced budget alongside structural reforms. Other legislative leaders reportedly are willing to meet with the governor in what Rauner said will be an open meeting with media access.
