North Carolina No. 1, Kentucky No. 2 in First College Basketball AP Poll

width=The Associated Press released on Monday afternoon its preseason poll, a canonical look at the college hoops landscape as we head into the the 2015-16 season.

Unlike the coaches poll, which was released on Oct. 15 and featured Kentucky and North Carolina tied atop the rankings, UNC takes first place with a lot of room to spare in the AP's echelon. UNC received more first-place votes than all other teams combined. Reigning champs Duke, which did not receive a first-place vote, takes fifth. Kentucky is second, while Maryland is third, though the Terrapins have more first-place believers than UK.

Six Big Ten teams received Top-25 nods while the ACC received just four bids.

Missouri Valley Conference member Wichita State came in at number 10 overall.
