Johnny Football Preparing to Start Sunday for Cleveland

On a short week, Johnny Manziel will be asked to lead the Browns to a win over the undefeated Bengals. And, oh yeah, that game will be played on the road in Cincinnati.

width=According to NFL Media's Rand Getlin, the Browns are preparing Manziel to start on Thursday as Josh McCown recovers from an injury to his ribs that he sustained during the Browns' loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.

McCown did not sound optimistic about the injury saying it would take longer than a few days for his injured ribs to heal.

Manziel has played in four games this season, completing 56 percent of his passes for 393 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. In his lone start this season, Manziel helped guide the Browns to a win over the Titans, demonstrating the improvements he's made since his disastrous rookie season. In that start, Manziel showed a willingness to pass first instead of relying too heavily on his legs.

If he does start Thursday, he'll face a stiff test. Not only are the Bengals undefeated, but their defense is surrendering just 18.9 points per game.

Manziel is currently under investigation by the NFL for his roadside incident with his girlfriend last month.
