>>Report Indicates Kane Accuser No Longer Cooperating In Investigation

There has been another reported development in the ongoing rape investigation surrounding Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane. According to the Buffalo News, the woman that accused Kane of raping her in his home in early August no longer wishes to cooperate with the investigation due to the "tremendous stress" this has caused her and her family.

The News also reported that the woman has signed an "affidavit declining prosecution" after a long meeting with investigators last week. That affidavit is being reviewed by Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita.

This news comes on the heels of a Buffalo News report that it was unlikely Kane would end up facing criminal charges after the now three-month investigation into what happened on the night of Aug. 2.

Sedita, who has been avoiding definitive statements on this ongoing investigation since it began, told the News that no decision will be made on this case until the prosecutor assigned to it returns from vacation.

Even if the alleged victim doesn't want to cooperate in the case, the DA's office can still decide to prosecute. However, it has been reported and stated by Kane's attorney Paul Cambria in mid-September that the DNA evidence collected via a rape kit following the alleged incident did not confirm the allegations of rape. Without the alleged victim's cooperation, it appears it would be difficult for the case to move forward.

Though nothing is yet confirmed, it appears more likely than ever that this investigation is about to reach its conclusion.
