Warrensburg-Latham Schools Updating School Improvement Plan

width=Area school districts are taking up the task mandated by the State of Illinois to take a look at ways to improve their districts.

Warrensburg-Latham Schools have narrowed their focus to four areas. According to Superintendent Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle, it starts with literacy. She explains they are taking an overview look at the district to find ways to improve.

Writing is becoming more prominent in the classroom than it was before. According to Dr. Kendrick-Weikle, the new Illinois learning standards mandate writing be a part of each subject's curriculum, which is what their second area of focus is.

A non-curricular focus of the district is technology. Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says they have excellent technology resources in their schools, however, they are focused on how to better use their resources in student learning.

Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says there has also been an emphasis on mathematics in the latest learning standards, and that will be a part of their district improvement focus as well.

She adds, they have each building and it's administration has their own set of plans, which are being crafted this time of year.
