DeWitt County Angel Tree Seeking Coats, Shoes for Area Students

It may not feel like November yet in central Illinois, but one local organization is taking no chances the mild weather will sustain.

DeWitt County Angel Tree, led by Sue Calvert, is collecting shoes and coats for students in DeWitt County Schools. Calvert indicates they see far too often, students walking to school or waiting at bus stops with inadequate clothing because their families cannot afford it.

Referrals for coats or shoes come directly from teachers and staff within the schools and Calvert indicates, they are quick to act when they receive that information.

In recent years, Angel Tree has begun to have more of an impact in Farmer City and Calvert says they are getting very positive reviews from their team on DeWitt County's east side.

Calvert indicates they prefer to have new or gently used coats and shoes
donated. To contact Calvert about volunteer opportunities within the DeWitt County Angel Tree Program, contact her at suecalvert13@gmail.com.
