Civic groups push for meeting details

The groups that urged the governor and legislative leaders to meet and hash out details to end the budget impasse -- now in its fifth month -- are pushing for details as the meeting date nears.

The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform and a group of reform and civic organizations say with the meeting less than a week away, details like the agenda, location and media access remain unclear. The letter to the governor and legislative leaders also urged input on the agenda be bipartisan, something they claim has not yet occurred.

The governor’s press office says they don’t have any updates to provide on the meeting at this time. The Wednesday, November 18th, meeting in either Chicago or Springfield has yet to be formalized. House Speaker Michael Madigan has said he wants to see an agenda before committing to attend, but he is planning on attending.
