State?s backlog for CWLP grows to nearly $3 million

The backlog of utility bills the state owes the Springfield-owned utility continues to grow but there aren’t any plans to cut off service at this time. That’s the latest from City Water Light and Power. Two accounts at the state complex are at $2.9 million, which includes summer peak usage months. CWLP says, while disconnect notices are still going out, there aren’t any immediate plans to cut service at the complex. A CWLP spokesperson says the utility is still waiting on the state’s appropriations to go through so it can get current on the accounts.
