David Ortiz To Retire After 2016

 width=Red Sox DH David Ortiz will retire following the 2016 season, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Neither Ortiz nor the Red Sox have confirmed the news.

Ortiz, who turns 40 on Wednesday, said last year he does not want a farewell tour a la Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Chipper Jones.

In parts of 19 big league seasons, including the last 13 with the Red Sox, Ortiz has hit .284/.378/.547 (139 OPS+) with 503 home runs and 1,641 RBI. He hit his 500th career home in September.
