Cubs' Arrieta Wins NL Cy Young

Jake Arrieta has won the 2015 National League Cy Young award, beating out fellow incredible finalists, Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, in one of the greatest Cy Young fields we've ever seen.

width=The story of Arrieta becoming a Cy Young winner is a great one, considering he was one of two pieces -- along with Pedro Strop -- that went to the Cubs in 2013 in exchange for a few months of Scott Feldman and a backup catcher, Steve Clevenger. He parlayed a breakthrough 2014 season into a Cy Young-winning season in 2015.

Arrieta, 29, was 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA (222 ERA+), 0.87 WHIP and 236 strikeouts against 46 unintentional walks in 229 innings this season. He had four complete games and three shutouts, including a no-hitter. He also had the lowest hit rate (5.9 H/9) and home run rate (0.4 HR/9) in the majors.

Arrieta's most impressive work came down the stretch. In his last 20 starts, he was 16-1 with a 0.86 ERA. In August and September, the Cubs won all 12 of his starts while he posted a 0.41 ERA and opponents hit .136/.182/.172 against him.

This is the fifth Cy Young for the Cubs, but it has been a while. Hall of Famers Fergie Jenkins (1971), Bruce Sutter (1979) and Greg Maddux (1992) did so. Rick Sutcliffe also pulled it off in 1984, despite having only been acquired via trade in May.

Dallas Keuchel won the American League Cy Young award, beating out fellow finalists David Price of the Blue Jays and Sonny Gray of the Athletics.

width=>>White Sox, Scott Hairston Agree To Terms

The White Sox and veteran outfielder Scott Hairston have agreed to a minor league contract.

Hairston has not played in the major leagues since 2014, when he hit .208 in 61 games for the Washington Nationals. He is a career .242 hitter with 106 homers and 313 RBIs over 11 seasons with Arizona, San Diego, Oakland, the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs and Nationals.

The White Sox confirmed the move on Wednesday.
