Anyhdrous Ammonia Pipeline Planned to ADM

Archer Daniels Midland, in Decatur, has proposed to build a new underground pipeline to deliver anhydrous ammonia from a storage site south of Cowden in southern Shelby County, thru Shelby, Moultrie, and Macon Counties, to A-D-M's Decatur plant.

Tim Stock is the Manager of the Macon County Farm Bureau. He explains the pipeline will run to Cowden to the east side of Decatur, tying in with ADM.

Stock says a lot of the Farm Bureau members' concerns are about access to the anhydrous ammonia and if there will be enough supply for them after this.

The project will be filed soon with the Illinois Commerce Commission and Stock notes things could be up and going as soon as next winter. He indicates they are hoping the digging for the pipeline will not interfere with next year's harvest.

For area farmers with questions on this proposal, contact your local Farm Bureau office for details.
