The Illinois Department of Employment Security released their local unemployment figures for the month of October earlier this week.
DeWitt County unemployment came in at 5.1%, up from 4.8% in September of this year and down from 5.4% in October of last year.
In Logan County, a 5.1% unemployment rate was a up from 4.6% in September and down from 5.5% in October last year.
Piatt County's 4.8% unemployment was on of the areas lowest, but that was up from 4.4% in September and in line with last October.
In Champaign County, unemployment was 5.1% for October, up from September's 4.4 rate but down from last October's 5.4%.
Over the past year, Macon County's unemployment rate has dropped to 6.8-percent, however, that is up from September's 6.4%.
McLean County's unemployment has remained steady from this time last year, as they registered an October unemployment rate of 4.8-percent. That figure is up from September, which was 4.3.
The state average for October was 5.3-percent while the national average is 4.8-percent.
