Tiger, McIlroy Notes

>>McIlroy's Fortune Pushing Half-Million Dollars

Rory McIlroy is wealthy. We all know that. But I bet you didn't know exactly how wealthy the Ulsterman was. According to the Irish Examiner, McIlroy is worth nearly have a billion dollars.

width=McIlroy has great sponsors. Between Nike, Bose, EA Sports and Omega, he's doing OK for himself. The underlying $422M number sort of contextualizes the quote McIlroy had at the Tour Championship earlier this year.

McIlroy said recently, quote-"Luckily, that amount of money doesn't sort of mean much to me anymore. So, no. I mean it's not a -- it will go in the bank and if I want to buy something nice, I will. It's not really anything that -- I mean like it's nice to think that you could win 10 million dollars this week, but that's not what excites me."

>>Tiger: "I'll Tell You When I'm Done"

Tiger Woods sort of alluded to the end on Tuesday in his Hero World Challenge press conference. It was sad. It was weird. It was real.

Woods clairifed some of his statements in an interview with PGA Tour Radio. He was asked if there are more majors in the bag.

"If I am physically able, then yes," Woods said. "If I am able to prepare the way I know I can prepare for an event, then yes. But if I can't because of whatever going forward, if this back doesn't get to where I need to get it to, then I don't see how you can win majors if you are not prepared. All the 14 that I've won, I was very prepared for those events."

Finally, Woods was asked about what he'd like to say to those of us who think he's cooked.

"Oh, I've been told that a lot," said Woods. "I've been told that a lot throughout the years. Whether I was in a slump and playing awful and won the '01 Masters, or I've had knee surgery and [they said] I'll never come back again, I was done there. Swing changes over the years. I've been written off by a lot of people over a number of different years and, you know, I'll tell you when I'm done. And you'll be one of the first to know because I'll be the first to tell you that, you know what, I can't prepare, I can't do this, there's no reason for me to continue on.

"And then I'm done, I'll just transition on to something else. And I get that part of it. But if I know I can prepare and if I can practice and train then you darn well bet I can win tournaments and win major championships."
