Rep. Mitchell Says He's Sick of Deadlock

width=Yesterday, appropriations were made by the Illinois legislature for money to finally be put into local governments in Illinois and one local lawmaker says it's about time.

State Representative Bill Mitchell says an agreement reached late Monday was already in place several weeks ago. He explains this bill puts money into local highway departments, 9-1-1 centers and domestic violence shelters.

The Representative says the spending bill is progress but he says it is depressing that something that should have been done already is progress. Mitchell calls it positive the legislative leaders are meeting even though their meetings have not had much substance.

According to Rep. Mitchell, Speaker Mike Madigan has "obstructed" progress in this whole process. He calls it absurd they require entities to pass a budget but the state legislature can't pass their own budget.

Rep. Mitchell says the General Assembly has been irresponsible for far too long.
