DNR Encouraging Tipsters To Call in Immediately

As the fire arm deer season for the year has wrapped up, there are still concerns for Department of Natural Resources officials this time of year.

John Williamson is a Conservation Police Officer and indicates this time of year, they get a lot of phone calls of tips of poaching and other calls they investigate. He says the biggest frustration they have is calls that come in hours, even days, after an incident with very few details.

Williamson indicates the poachers hotline has been well utilized and has allowed the Department to better regulate the area. He points to the fact they are very short staffed across the state, so it helps having the public be their eyes.

The most frequent complaints DNR receives are night hunting, baiting and hunting without permission.
