DeWitt County DOVE Pleased With Governor's Recent Spending Plan

DeWitt County's domestic violence agency is weighing in on the latest spending plan signed into law by the Governor.

Earlier this week, Governor Bruce Rauner signed a spending plan passed by the General Assembly that will provide money to local governments, 9-1-1 centers and domestic violence agencies. Megan Neville with DeWitt County DOVE says things with their agency have been very tough with no funding coming from the state.

The State of Illinois owes DOVE around $200-thousand and Neville indicates not only does the bill signed by the Governor restore their funding but it will make up that $200-thousand they are owed.

Neville points out many centers in southern Illinois closed, and that created challenges for their organization because several victims came to central Illinois seeking refuge and she indicates they did the best they could given the circumstance.

Neville adds, DOVE is one of the few non-profits that are now being funded by the state but there are numerous others who are not. She hopes as you choose to do any giving this holiday season, you might consider those non-profits in your community that do not have things going as well as they do at this point.
