Power Line Project Pushed Past Appeal

The path for a proposed power line project cutting through parts of central Illinois seems to be moving forward.

The Illinois Commerce Commission filed notice on Tuesday that they are rejecting appeals for another round of hearings on the Grain Belt Express power line. The agreement against the project was that Clean Line failed to meet state standards during the hearing and approval process.

Land owners in Pike, Scott, Christian, Macoupin, Montgomery, Shelby, Cumberland and Clarke counties are to be impacted.

The project is being built to bring electricity produced in Kansas across Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. The Grain Belt still hasn’t met approval in Missouri.
