McIlroy Says Speith Will Struggle Next Season

width=It would be more shocking if Jordan Spieth repeated his 2015 season in 2016 than it was that he accomplished his 2015 to begin with. Two majors, five wins, the FedEx Cup and close to $25 million. Those are stunning numbers. Backing them up with similar figures? Next to impossible.

There are only a handful of golfers who know how difficult this is to do. One of them is Rory McIlroy. He told the Telegraph recently that Spieth is in for a pretty intense 2016.

“It will feel completely different for Jordan,” McIlroy said. “If you look at the stats at how those who have had a double-major season have performed the next year… well, it's hard to back up. It just is. There's so much expectation, so much attention and focus. And I think it is more self-inflicted pressure really as your expectations are so high."

Few golfers win two majors in a season and follow it up the next year. It has only happened one time and it was Tiger Woods.
