Slow Start Dooms Sages in Holiday Hoopla Championship

Despite a furious second half comeback, the Monticello Sages could not overcome a horrendous first half, and fell to Ridgeview Tuesday night in the championship game of the Monticello Holiday Hoopla, 58-49.

 width=Trailing 31-8 at the half, a second half rally that saw the Sages outscore Ridgeview 41-27 fell short.

Three Mustangs scored in double figures, led by Drew Jones’ 20 points. Luke Ward had 14 points and seven rebounds and Tyler McCormick added 14 points as well.

Noah Young had eight rebounds, seven assists 9 and three points as all five Ridgeview starters logged 25 or more minutes.

Isiah Florey led Monticello with 17 points and five rebounds. Zach Fisher added 15 points and seven rebounds on just 1 of 9 shooting beyond the arc.

Fisher and Noah Freemon were named to the All Tournament Team for Monticello.

Mccormick and  Ward  were also named to the All Tournament Team.

The Sages fall to 7-1.
