Ole Miss Pair Opt For NFL Draft

While the news comes as no surprise, it's official now. Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is foregoing his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL Draft.

"After sitting down with my family, we have decided it is time for me to take the next step in my career and enter the 2016 NFL draft," said Treadwell in a statement.

Treadwell, a native of the Chicago-area, caught 82 passes for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns for Ole Miss this season. In his three seasons, he caught 202 passes for 2,393 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He basically re-wrote the school record book during his time in Oxford, and finishes as the school's all-time leader in receptions, as well as yards in a season (this year's 1,153), most receiving yards per game (68.4) during his career and a whole host of others.

Joining Treadwell in foregoing his senior season is star left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Tunsil is the third Ole Miss junior to declare for the draft.

"After weighing the decision with my family, I will forgo my senior season and enter the 2016 NFL Draft," Tunsil said in a statement released by Ole Miss.

Tunsil suffered a broken leg in the Peach Bowl last year and then missed the first seven games of the 2015 season because of NCAA infractions.

Despite those setbacks, Tunsil declaring for the draft comes as no surprise as he is a projected top-5 pick and ranked No. 2 on the CBS Sports NFL Draft prospect rankings. Tunsil is considered the most NFL-ready offensive lineman entering the draft and plays the premium position of left tackle.
