Illinois Drivers Licence Will Work Just Fine For Next Two Years

For frequent travelers, talk of Homeland Security officials no longer recognizing Illinois driver's licenses set off alarms.

Today there's good news from the Secretary of State's office. Spokesman Henry Haupt says Illinoisans who plan to fly won't have to scramble for a passport.

Haupt says Illinois is closing in on complying with the Real ID act.

Federal officials still want additional steps taken to ensure that no one falsely obtains a bogus identity through an Illinois driver's license. The decision also impacts neighboring Missouri, which has faced similar concerns.
