DeWitt County Development Council Updating Strategic Plan

Looking to the future is the name of the game for one DeWitt County group aimed at furthering economic development.

The DeWitt County Development Council (DCDC) and their leadership have spent the last several months outlining the future of their organization and Executive Director, Ruth Stauffer explains the strategic plan will set up goals three to five years down the road.

Stauffer indicates the big focus of the strategic plan is funding. Funding for the DCDC is very thin at times and Stauffer says they have to better find ways to do more with less.

Recruiting business to a community is a challenge for economic development organization, and Stauffer says it's all about networking. She points to a pharmacy that will open up in Farmer City as one of their successes of ongoing efforts to network.
