Retirement Preparation Tips from Social Security

According to Social Security, the first few months of the year is the hot time to retire.

Kevin Rice with Social Security says when you are considering retirement to remember age 62 is the first time you can start to receive social security benefits.

Full retirment is age 66 for most and Rice says there will be no deductions in your benefits and there is no restrictions in earnings.

Prior to full retirement age, there is a limit to what you can earn. He says this year's rates have been set.

Rice says the scenarios can get confusing, but encourages giving your local social security office a call to find out how they all impact you.
