Signs of Inching Forward On Pension Reform

There's movement on pension reform but how much remains to be seen. Governor Rauner and GOP legislative leaders are supporting elements of a pension reform plan being offered by Senate President John Cullerton.

Rauner says he favors a premise from Cullerton providing state workers the option of having future raises go towards their pensions or receiving cost of living increases when they retire.

Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno is happy to move forward, even if it falls short of a solution to the state's pension debt.

Rauner wants any pension reforms to remove the debate over wages from collective bargaining with public employees. Cullerton does not support that.
