Governor Agrees Current Funding Formula Not Effective

The push to bring about school funding reform is on, but not everyone’s on board with the idea.

Bunker Hill State Senator Andy Manar equated the current funding formula to outdated technology that no one uses anymore. He also said that things won’t just happen out of nowhere.

Wheaton Republican Representative Jeanne Ives agrees the status quo can’t continue but questions the fairness of the funding reform being proposed.

Governor Bruce Rauner’s office says after signing the K-12 education bill the governor reiterated his belief that the “current school funding formula is not effective” but did not want to comment on Manar’s bill at this time.
