House Votes To Suspend License Plate Fees

The Illinois House wants to give drivers used to expiring license plate reminder notices a break.

The House has passed a measure to suspend fines for drivers whose license plate stickers are out of date until the state resumes mailing out reminder notices.

The legislation passed unanimously and will now head to the Illinois Senate.

The state has collected more than $5 million in fines since the beginning of the year, nearly double what was collected at the same time last year.
