GOVERNOR BRUCE RAUNER IS URGING LAWMAKERS TO QUICKLY PASS AN EDUCATION FUNDING BILL TO MAKE SURE SCHOOLS CAN OPEN IN THE FALL.

 

GOVERNOR RAUNER SAYS THE LEGISLATURE SHOULD BUILD ON THE RECENT SPIRIT OF BIPARTISANSHIP AT THE CAPITOL AND ENSURE “K” THROUGH 12 EDUCATION IS PROPERLY FUNDED.

 

 

HOUSE MINORITY LEADER JIM DURKIN ECHOED THAT SENTIMENT.

 

 

RAUNER IS CALLING FOR AN INCREASE IN EDUCATION SPENDING, SO THAT THE SCHOOL STATE AID FORMULA IS FULLY FUNDED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN YEARS.

 

RAUNER SAYS HE WELCOMES IDEAS ON HOW TO MORE FAIRLY FUND SCHOOLS IN ILLINOIS…BUT SAYS IN THE MEANTIME, LAWMAKERS NEED TO APPROVE THE INCREASE IN EDUCATION SPENDING HE IS PROPOSING.
