Last week, around a dozen local leaders were in Springfield to meet with the Governor and Clinton Mayor Roger Cyrulik updated the Clinton City Council on that visit.

The Mayor says the meeting was very productive and credits the Governor with his knowledge of the situation and his support for DeWitt County.

The Mayor disputes the perception the legislation is a bailout for Exelon and says it is about bringing Exelon and nuclear power in line with other energy producers.

Exelon has put a firm date of May 31 in place for legislation to be passed or they will begin to decommission the plant.
