The President of the local group WATCH Clinton Landfill has been found guilty of aggrevated battery charges.

60-year-old William Spencer of Kenney was found guilty in a jury trial Thursday evening of aggrevated assault charges stemming from an incident in September of 2014.

Following a DeWitt County Board meeting, Spencer was in an altercation with Dustin Peterson, who is the President of the DeWitt County Republican Party.

Peterson did not retaliate and did not press charges but the incident happened at the DeWitt County Building, which resulted in the charge of assault in a public place, a Class 3 felony.

Tom Brown of Pontiac prosecuted the case as a special attorney.

Sentencing for Spencer is July 11.
