Temperatures are expected to soar to the 100 mark in Joliet and East Peoria this weekend at the home of the 3A/4A state baseball and softball finals.

The Illinois High School Association is scrambling to adjust, moving start times for games this weekend to help teams and fans beat the heat.

Friday's first pitch times for the opening semifinal games in both tournaments have been moved from 10 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The next 3A semifinal will be played immediately after. The 4A Semifinals will be moved back from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to avoid the hottest part of the day.

The second 4A semifinal contests will be played immediately after.
