GOVERNOR BRUCE RAUNER IS SIGNING A NEW LAW EXPANDING THE STATE’S DRIVER’S LICENSE DESIGNATION FOR VETERANS

SINCE LAST YEAR…VETS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET A SPECIAL IDENTIFIER ON THEIR LICENSE SIGNALING THEIR STATUS AS A VETERAN. THE PROGRAM DIDN’T INCLUDE NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS OR RESERVISTS, WHICH IS AN OVERSIGHT THAT’S CORRECT WITH THIS NEW LAW SAYS GOVERNOR RAUNER.

THE NEW LAW CORRECTS AN OVERSIGHT IN THE CURRENT LAW TO MAKE SURE ALL SERVICE MEMBERS ARE REPRESENTED SAYS GOVERNOR RAUNER.

VETS CAN HAVE THE DESIGNATION ADDED FOR FREE WHEN THEY RENEW THEIR DRIVER’S LICENSE. IF THEY WANT TO DO THAT BEFORE THEIR LICENSE IS UP FOR RENEWAL, IT WILL COST FIVE BUCKS.
