The DeWitt County Board at their October board meeting put on file the 2017 fiscal year budget.
Board Chair David Newberg says this year's budget has a slight tax increase but it is still lower than what it was two years ago. He notes the budget will be balanced.
Newberg says reserves for the County are in a tough and they will work to restore those. He indicates going to the taxpayers and asking for a tax increase is not an option.
Newberg credits the many department leaders in the County for their dilligence in getting a good budget passed for each department and finding ways to save the taxpayers money.
The Board is expected to approve the budget at their monthly meeting in a few weeks.
