Republican General Assembly Gains Not All About Money

State Representative Tim Butler worked for years behind the scenes with longtime Congressman Ray LaHood and knows a thing or two about a good ground game. 
 
While many attribute the GOP's ability to eliminate the Democratic supermajority in the legislature to Governor Bruce Rauner's personal spending, Butler says a little sweat factored in too.
 
 
Butler says the ground efforts were crucial to counter grass roots efforts in a number of races, especially in Central Illinois.
 
 
The Springfield Republican ran unopposed for another term in the House.
