HUNTERS HARVESTED MORE THAN 54 THOUSAND DEER DURING THE FIRST WEEKEND OF THE FIREARM DEER SEASON. 
 
THE 54 THOUSAND, 452 DEER TAKEN LAST WEEKEND IS BELOW LAST YEAR’S TOTAL OF ALMOST 58 THOUSAND DEER SAYS ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SPOKESPERSON TIM SCHWEIZER.

THE SECOND HALF OF THE FIREARM SEASON RUNS FROM DECEMBER FIRST THROUGH THE FOURTH. THAT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY MUZZLELOADER ONLY DEER SEASON ON DECEMBER NINTH THROUGH THE 11TH.
