After a nearly fatal heart attack earlier this month, DeWitt County Sheriff Jered Shofner is thankful for the thoughts and prayers of support he's received since.
The Sheriff, now home resting and recovering, says the public cannot know how much that meant to him.
The Sheriff started that December 15 with early morning chest pains and ended up in the emergency room, followed by a trip to Champaign.
The Sheriff says he has begun rehab at Warner Hospital and Health Services and anticipates a full recovery.
He hopes anyone with any sort of discomfort will get themselves checked as it might be a life saving visit to your health care provider.
