Local Lawmakers React To No Budget As Deadline Passes

Another year has come and gone and it's another year without a budget in Illinois. 
 
Local leaders are not happy as state Senator Chapin Rose (right) yesterday reacted to the General Assembly dismissing without anything getting done on the budget front.
 
 
On the Senate floor yesterday, Sen. Rose blasted a school reform bill that sends more money to Chicago Public Schools.
 
 
Representative Bill Mitchell said no to the funding plan as well. He calls the biggest Chicago bail out in the history of Illinois.
 
 
Sen. Bill Brady says Democrats decided to run the ship alone and cannot believe with a super-majority, lawmakers are leaving Springfield without a budget in place. 
 
 
Sen. Brady believes Democrats were working in good faith with Republicans but says they will continue to work together.
 
 
Representative Dan Brady was also disappointed but echoed Bill Brady's comments that they will continue to work in a bipartisan way to get a budget in place.
 
 
House Speaker Michael Madigan didn't call for a budget vote and pledged to work with his rival,Governor Bruce Rauner.
 
 
Governor Bruce Rauner wasn't so diplomatic.
 
 
A budget vote now need a three-fifths majority to pass.
